Sure you know him or must have heard about him. Alhaji Fatahi Diekola is a popular politician in Osun State.
The Osogbo born Alhaji Diekola is a fiery politician and he is in the mould of late Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu.
He turned 69 penultimate week.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, in his happy birthday message, acknowledged Alhaji Diekola’s cherished history in the political evolution of the state, recognising his discerning political mind and unparalleled grassroots mobilisation capacity as strength that endears him to politicians across the divides.
The Governor saluted the political juggernaut for his firmness and principled stance against retrogressive forces in Osun state, noting that the support of people of his kind continues to motivate his administration in forging ahead in the delivery of good governance for the people of Osun state.
“A hearty cheers to a politician of repute, Alhaji Fatai Diekola, on the auspicious occasion of his 69th birthday. Alhaji Diekola is a perfect reminder that politics can be a tool for good, and as he marks a new age, I join well-wishers in honouring the incredible contributions that define him and to also celebrate the impacts he has made in the society,” Governor Adeleke was quoted as saying in a congratulatory message.
“Over the years, Alhaji Diekola stood as the bulwark against injustice in the society, sacrificing his personal comfort and benefits to ensure that no one is deprived of what they deserve. Alhaji Diekola was one of the voices of reasons that backed our aspirations to save Osun from the abyss of ruins that past maladministration led it to and his support for our administration’s efforts to set Osun on the path of progress has been encouraging,” he said.
Governor Adeleke prays to Almighty Allah to continue to bestow his unending grace on Alhaji Diekola as he looks to celebrate more years on earth, enjoining the celebrant to remain steadfast as he is confident that the future holds even more success and fulfillment for him.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has doubled down on his drive for a stronger and inclusive future anchored on solid infrastructure and human capital development with the State Executive Council disclosing penultimate Thursday that it has approved construction projects across different sectors.

In what signaled the major takeoff of the Kwara Smart City project, the council has also approved the construction of a four-storey administrative/senate building for the Kwara State University of Education (KWSUED)’ the state Commissioner for Communications,” Hon Bolanle Olukoju, said.
The statement noted that this was sequel to a presentation on the tender process by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development Dr. Segun Ogunsola adding that the Senate building project was awarded to M C & T Limited at the cost of N11.9bn for a duration of 15 months.
Dr. Ogunsola said the building will house Senate/Council Chambers, Conference Rooms, and office accommodation for key management personnel such as the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellors, Registrar, Bursar.
The building will also according to him provide office spaces for routine university administration including Finance, Registry, Student Affairs, Examination, and Records, among others.
‘The council also considered and approved the construction of the Ojoku-Ilemona Bye-Pass Road Ilemona, Oyun Local Government Area, a 15km project with significant impacts on the communities in the axis.
The road directly connects traffic from the axis to the 49km tax credit-funded Afon-Ojoku-Offa-Odo Otin road.
The project was awarded to Construction Products Nig. Ltd. at N6.4 billion for a duration of 19 months.
After a presentation by the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, the cabinet also considered and approved N2 billion contract for the construction of Alabe-Oreke Road in Ifelodun local government, connecting the area with other agrarian communities in the rocky terrain.
The job, which completes the long stretch from Owode Ofaro end and links Ifelodun to Isin Local Government Area, is awarded to Wallyson Ventures for a completion period of 12 months’ the statement added.
Hon Bolanle also disclosed that contractors have been mobilized to begin construction works on the Offa and Lafiagi Stadia, strengthening public access to standard sports facilities in every part of the state.
“Both stadia, now approved for rehabilitation, had been moribund for several years,” she added

He died in Ilorin after a short illness.
Isa Bawa Is New Kwara PDP Chairman
Remember him? Alhaji Isa Adamu Bawa served as Special Adviser on Rural Development and Commissioner for Energy during the Bukola Saraki administration.
He was also at a time the Deputy Chairman of the state PDP.
The Kaiama born politician was on Saturday sworn in as Chairman of Kwara State PDP.
The state congress that produced Alhaji Isa Bawa as chairman was held at Arca Santa Arena, Ilorin on Saturday.

Army Arrests 5 People With AK-47 In Share
The Nigerian Army in its efforts to help fight insecurity in the State of Harmony, arrested five ‘persons of interest’ at a checkpoint in the Share axis of Ifelodun local government penultimate week.
They were found in possession of six AK-47 rifles.
“Five suspected kidnappers were arrested today along Share axis. They kept six AK47 underneath charcoal in a Golf saloon car this afternoon.
They were intercepted by the Nigerian Army team on Patrol. The five suspects are undergoing interrogation,” a top security aide said on Thursday night.
Their arrest came a day after six people were arrested in Babanla area on suspicion of being couriers for the kidnappers with a large consignment of bread and petrol.
They were suspected to be acting as couriers for kidnapping gangs in the axis.
They were arrested while hiding during a surveillance operation by government-backed local vigilantes around Babanla penultimate Wednesday.
Babanla is also in Ifelodun local government
‘They have been transferred to the police headquarters in Ilorin for further investigation’ said a source.
Seven abducted residents of Kwara State including Adam Khadijat, Mamud Miriam and Mumuni Ahmed were earlier in the same week successfully rescued while many criminals were eliminated in a coordinated assault by government-supported vigilantes in Omu Aran-Eruku earlier in the week.
Six motorcycles, assault rifles, and many loaded magazines were recovered from their hideouts.
