Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state on Friday 27 January 2023 received the Vanguard Newspaper’s 2022 Governor of the Year Award during the awards ceremony held by the newspaper at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos state.
The governor, who was commended for his institutional reforms in education and healthcare reforms, safety net programmes, infrastructural development, and his ‘purposeful leadership’ that had seen people of the state benefit from dividends of democracy, was honoured alongside Governors of Oyo, Delta, Borno, and Akwa Ibom states.

The award also had other categories, which honored great Nigerians from all walks of life and it had businessman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote wining the Vanguard’s Personality of the Year Award.
The Governor was accompanied to the event by prominent Kwarans and leading members of the ruling APC, including Senators Lola Ashiru and Suleiman Sadiq Umar; House of Representatives members; Raheem Olawuyi and Tijani Ismail; Kwara Central APC senate candidate, Turaki Salihu Mustapha; Mohammed Dele Belgore SAN; LUBCON Chairman , Alhaji Jani Ibrahim; and Chief Femi Sani.
Equally on his entourage were APC House of Representatives candidates; Ahmed Yinka Aluko, Mukhtar Shagaya and Ahmed Saba; Alhaji Raheem Adedoyin, Otunba Ademola Adeoyin, among others.
The Governor has received several awards and recognitions for his outstanding performance since taking office in 2019.
