Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed Identifies With Women

Kwara State governor, Alhaji  Abdulfatah Ahmed has advocated for the creation of more opportunities for women in  the country, stating that African women deserve more space in the  political environment. The governor made the call penultimate week when the newly elected officials of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA),  Kwara State chapter led by its Chairperson, Barrister Salmat Muhammed visited him at the Government House, Ilorin.  “Women have demonstrated that they can deliver and work better than men in some capacities. The residual anachronistic beliefs of the past against the interests of the African women must be checked as productivity requires collective efforts. Productivity means that all hands must be on deck. Everybody has a role to play and that necessarily shapes the role that individuals will play. FIDA serves a dual role of not only guaranteeing rights of women but most importantly, it serves as a platform for recognizing human capital development’,

he said. Governor Ahmed who called on individuals and groups to key into the agricultural revolution being recorded across the country said President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s policy on agricultural sector has moved agriculture from the subsistence level to the commercial level.  He therefore urged professional bodies, individuals and other entities willing to go into agriculture business to approach the state Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the state Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Bureau for the required funding from the Central Bank’s agric loans. Speaking earlier, Barrister Salmat Muhammed explained that the association had over the years supported education of the indigent students and assisted women and children that needed medical support. She also commended Governor Ahmed for partnering with the group and solicited for more collaboration and co-operation.
