Solomon ‘Yayi’ Adeola Announced as Ogun APC governorship Consensus Candidate for 2027

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Monday openly named Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the All Progressives Congress consensus choice for the party’s 2027 governorship ticket in the state.
The endorsement came during a strategic APC caucus meeting of party leaders and stakeholders on Monday, where discussions centred on succession plans and preparations ahead of the next election cycle.
In a video clip from the meeting, Abiodun, dressed in a light blue agbada and black cap, addressed party members and said the party had already reached a decision on its preferred candidate.
He said, “But first, we’ve decided who is deserving as the next flag bearer of our dear state.”
Immediately after the announcement, Yayi rose to his feet as supporters erupted in cheers, with trumpets blaring and chants filling the hall in a show of support.
The governor, while speaking, also reflected on political continuity within the APC, referencing past transitions in leadership and stressing the need for unity in selecting a successor capable of sustaining the party’s dominance in the state.
The meeting, which had key APC chieftains and stakeholders in attendance, is seen as a significant political development ahead of the 2027 governorship race, with party insiders suggesting it may shape and potentially narrow.
