President Buhari Names Isa Aremu  As NILS DG

Foremost labour leader and former gubernatorial aspirant in Kwara state, Comrade Issa Aremu has been appointed as substantive Director General of the National Institute for Labour Studies (NILS), Ilorin, Kwara state.

Aremu’s  appointment is for a period of four years, effective from 18th May, 2021.

It has been outpouring of congratulatory messages for Aremu  while Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has described  his appointment  as deserving and a reward for consistency.

‘This is a pleasant appointment for an accomplished labour leader and respected ambassador of trade union movement with longstanding struggles for decent labour in Nigeria and beyond.

Aremu, a two-term Vice-President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, General Secretary of National Union of Textile Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria, Vice President of the Industrial Global Union, and General Secretary of the Alumni Association of the National Institute for Policy & Strategy Studies is eminently qualified to lead the prestigious labour market institution in line with the vision of President Muhammadu Buhari’ he said.
