Hon Akinlaja

As Muslims throughout Ondo State, Nigeria and around the world celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, I sincerely extend my warmest wishes to them and their families on this auspicious occasion.

This last month has been a time of fasting, reflection, spiritual renewal, and service to the less fortunate. While Eid marks the completion of Ramadan, it also celebrates the common values that unite us in our humanity and reinforces the obligations that people of all faiths have to each other, especially those impacted by poverty, conflict, job loss, diseases and most recently the deadly covid-19 pandemic.

In Nigeria, Eid also reminds us of the many achievements and contributions of Nigerian Muslims to building the very fabric of our nation and strengthening the core of our democracy.  That is why we stand with people of all faiths to protect and advance their rights to prosper, and we welcome their commitment to positively giving back to their communities.

Meanwhile, as committed and resilient members of Zenith Labour Party, good citizens of Ondo State and by extension patriotic Nigerians, I urge us all to stay safe amid the Covid-19 global pandemic and to also diligently embrace public health guidelines and instructions, including safe distancing, use of facemasks at public places among other lay down protocols.

This esteemed political movement, Zenith Labour Party is also of the firm conviction that the significant lessons of Ramadan, particularly asceticism, voluntary giving of help, clear-headedness and self-restraint, would remain permanent virtues amongst all our Muslim faithful in the overall good of country.

On behalf of our great and purpose driven party, the Zenith Labour Party, Ondo State chapter, I wish Muslims in our state and around the world a blessed and joyous celebration. Eid Mubarak.
