Ijebu Central APC Leaders, Stakeholders Endorse Kope’s Reps Ambition

The executive members and other stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Ijebu Central Federal Constituency have endorsed Engr. Kunle Otun prominently known in the Ogun political circle as KOPE as the candidate of the party for the House of Representatives in the 2023 general elections.

 

 

KOPE, a thoroughbred and experienced grassroots politician is the Special Adviser to Gov Dapo Abiodun on Water Resources.

 

 

The endorsement was made on Sunday during an extensive meeting with key party leaders across the three local governments; Ijebu North East, Ijebu Ode and Odogbolu in the federal constituency.

 

 

Chieftains of the party at the meeting include *Hon Kehinde Odeneye, a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Rasaq Daddah, past council chairman Ijebu-Ode local government, Hon Bisi Akinola, past council vice-chairman, Hon Adebayo Sikiru Fmr APC party Chairman, Ijebu Ode LG, Hon Ladi Lekuti, former APC Chairman, Ijebu ode LG, Hon Kuburat Arigbabu, APC Senatorial woman leader, Ogun East and some leaders of the Legislative Council.

 

Speaking at the event, Hon Daddah disclosed that in line with the directive of the Governor on the need to pick a generally acceptable candidate for the party, “We have searched inward to look at the most experienced person among the aspirants, apart from this, we have also looked at his contribution to the party, KOPE has contributed to a large extent to the party and also has professional pedigree, hence his endorsement by the leaders today,” he added.

 

 

In a similar development, Hon Odeneye, a former federal lawmaker who once represented the constituency expressed confidence in the capability of Engr Kope to provide quality representation if eventually elected.

 

 

Odeneye appealed to all APC faithful in the federal constituency to rally round the choice of Hon Kunle Otun for the betterment of the entire residents of the three local governments. Hon Kehinde Odeneye also pleaded with the Ijebu North-east APC exco to support KOPE and called this election a pay back election for KOPE stepping down for him in 2011.

 

 

Hon Kunle Otun in his remarks thanked the leaders and party stakeholders for deeming him fit for the exalted position, promising them to live up to expectation when he assumed office.

 

 

“I want to sincerely appeal to all the good people in this federal constituency to support me on this journey, and I promise to not be a representative that gives excuses but one that will represent you boldly.”
