Nigerian born US based female singer, Ejire Dollars, today, is set to make history as the first black singer from Nigeria to have received the prestigious Oscars award.

Dollars, who was privileged to be on the list of musicians who performed at the 12th annual US Congressional Awards and Gala Night holding at Yellow Box 1635 Emerson Lane, Naperville, Illinois, United States of America, was singled out for the prestigious honour, according to a statement made available and signed by her image maker, King Julieking Adegoroye.

Born Taiwo Fatai in Owerri, Obizi Nbaze, Imo State, Southeast, Nigeria, Ejire Dollars grew up at Ile Oba, Tirejoye, Oyan Odo Otin LG in Osun State where she developed passion for singing at a very young age before moving to the US where she was working and doing music for living.

“I feel honoured and grateful for this award. This honour is not for me alone but all Nigerians and my fans across the world. This honour would enable me to put more efforts in doing what I know best to do. I say a big thanks to the organisers,” stated Ejire, who had earlier received honours from the Duke Music Entertainment for her contributions to the music industry.

Dollars’ hit songs include ‘Appreciation’, ‘Omo Ibadan’ and, lately, ‘Current Affairs’.
