Why I Invested Fortunes In Ajilete Carnival – Hon. Akinwale Akinwole


The Chairman of Ajilete Carnival and foremost political leader in Ogbomosoland, Oyo State, Hon. Akinwale Akinwole has explained that he decided to invest fortunes in the annual Ajilete carnival to promote the rich tradition and cultural heritage of Ogbomoso people.
Akinwole who disclosed this while speaking with newsmen on the plans for the year 2021 Ajilete Carnival said he and other illustrious sons and daughters of Ogbomoso initiated the carnival, not only to celebrate the people of Ogbomosoland but to also put the ancient town on the world map.
Akinwole while unveiling the programme of events for this year’s edition of the carnival disclosed that, members of the planning committee are working round the clock to ensure a world class celebration of the rich cultural heritage of Ogbomosoland.
According to him, the 2021 Ajilete carnival will be a memorable event filled with pomp and pageantry to showcase the true nature of Ogbomoso people.

He said the much-anticipated 2021 Ajilete Carnival will hold on Sunday, December 26 Boxing Day.

Akinwole said, apart from the traditional display of Ogbomoso arts, culture and musical talents, the event will feature ace fuji musician, Alhaji Alabi Pasuma and Nigeria’s topmost hip hop artiste, Abolore Akande, popularly known as 9ice.

He noted that, the city of Ogbomoso will be agog for the most prestigious and colourful event in the history of Ogbomoso, adding that no fewer than three popular ancient masquerades of over 200 years of existence would thrill audience to electrifying performances.

Akinwole revealed that His Royal Majesty, the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Jimoh Oyewunmi is expected to declare the event open while Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde would be the Special Guest of Honour.

He urged all sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland from both home and the diaspora to attend the event, which, according to him would be an homecoming event for them.
This year, Governor Seyi Makinde is expected to honour us with his presence and also flag off the event”,    Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi is also expected to grace this year’s edition,  our paramount rulers in Ogbomosoland, Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewunmi Ajagungbade and Olugbon of Igbon kingdom, Alao Francis will be on the royal seat. Also, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams has also promised to be at this year’s colourful edition.
