Operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, have barred lawyers to the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, from meeting him in custody.

Special counsel for the embattled IPOB leader, Aloy Ejimakor, made this known.

According to him, the secret police also prevented the lawyers from meeting Kanu last Thursday; an act Ejimakor said, was in contravention of the order of Justice Binta Nyako, of a Federal High Court in Abuja.

It could be recalled that Justice Nyako had ordered that Kanu be allowed access to his lawyers twice a week, Mondays and Thursdays.

Kanu had complained that his lawyers were not allowed to see him in detention.

However, Ejimakor disagreed with the reason adduced by the DSS for not allowing Kanu’s lawyers to visit, stressing that the secret service outfit was only giving unnecessary reasons to humiliate Kanu.
