Sen Durojaiye Chairs NGO Launch, Seeks Help for The Poor, Physically Challenged

The Chairman Board of Commissioners of the Nigerian Communication Commission, NCC, Sen Biyi Durojaiye, has tasked Nigerians on the need to give back to the society describing the move as a panacea to national development. The All Progressives Congress Chieftain said the different communities in the country would have been a far better place to live if well-meaning people in the society are more determined to help the needy and physically challenged in their midst. Sen Durojaiye gave his message of hope at the weekend in Ijebu – Igbo, Ogun State, during the unveiling of She Africa Initiative, a non-governmental organisation founded by Hajia Kudirat Dada in conjunction with some Africa, Europe and America based Nigerian professionals to provide shelter, healthcare and education (SHE) to the vulnerable and physically challenged children.Hajia Kudirat Dada, the founder of the foundation in her welcome address said she was overwhelmed at the increasing rate of poverty among the larger percentage of the future generation which informed her passion to empower the less-privileged, alleviate the sufferings among the people and as well elevate their living standard.According to her, the organization which comprises of professional from different chosen fields across Africa, Europe and America will deal specifically on the wellbeing of the needy including the physically challenged in the society in order for them to achieve their God-chosen talents for the betterment of their tomorrow.In her own words, “We have decided to pull resources together to assist in the area of our core mandate; shelter, healthcare and education. If truly that children are the leaders of tomorrow, then we must empower them to achieve their God’s given talent. It is a known fact that many children in Nigeria and across Africa face hardships and undergo strenuous efforts to be educated and some don’t even get the opportunity at all,” She added.Also speaking at the event, Comrade Gbenga Soloki likened the present hardship with the gory days of Ethiopia where internal strife and war, famine and starvation ravaged the land with children as worst hit.However, in his panacea for the way out, Soloki said premium should be on education of the younger ones who pride themselves as the leaders of tomorrow. The social crusader also suggested that any serious government should give more attention to the budget on education in line with the directive of the United Nation, so that researches and ground-breaking exercises can be embarked upon by our institutions.Soloki similarly advised that different levels of government should be involved in free and comprehensive healthcare system to also avoid preventable diseases.Highlight of the event included the distribution of educational materials, clothing, shoes and bags, toothbrush and paste as well as body cream to hundreds of pupils and students by the NGO. Dignitaries who graced the occasion were Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye, Prof. Abdulrasaq Alaba, Dr Olusola Aluko, Sheik Abdurazaaq Mubashir Woleola , Permanent Secretary Ministry Of Education represented by Mrs Onayiga and Miss Abiola Ikotun Founder, Teens circle capacity initiative among others.
