The Olomu of Omu Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Oladele Adeoti has come under the spotlight as his alleged ‘secret plan’ to take over Chairmanship of Igbomina-Ekiti Traditional Rulers has become a point of discussion in the Kwara South axis of the State of Harmony.
The first class monarch has been accused of plotting to supplant Olupo of Ajase-Ipo as head of the Igbomina –Ekiti obas.
Successive Olupo of Ajase-Ipo had served as Chairman of the council.
The Ajase-Ipo throne however became vacant following the passing of Oba Sikiru Atanda Woleola II on 22 February 2021 and the vacant throne has not been filled.
The Omu-Aran monarch has reportedly been pulling strings with people in government and taking steps to get himself positioned as chairman of the Igbomina-Ekiti obas.
An indigene of Ajase-Ipo , who begged for anonymity said the development did not go down well with Ajase-Ipo people who have been grumbling and that the grumblings may graduate to a roar.
‘Whoever occupies the Ajase-ipo throne has always been the number one Traditional Ruler in Igbomina- Ekiti.
Whoever is the Olupo has always been the Chairman, Council of Igbomina- Ekiti Traditional Rulers . This status was attained not through contest but primarily because, it was well-deserved, Ajase-ipo has been in existence since sixteen century.
Just like seniority is not questioned and Chairmanship of Traditional Councils not made rotational in other districts,
For example, while the Owa of Ijeshaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran acted as Chairman, Osun state Council of Obas before a new Ooni was announced , Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi took over in January 2016 after his emergence as Ooni of Ife.
We consider it necessary to urge the Olomu of Omu- Aran ,Oba Abdulraheem Oladele Adeoti to halt secret plan to become Chairman of Igbomina -Ekiti Traditional Rulers.
Doing otherwise can negatively affect existing good relationship between the two communities.
We, the Indigenes of Ajase-ipo are watching with keen interest across the globe.
We the good people of Ajase-Ipo stand in unity to defend our Right, our Heritage, our Pride, our customs, which successive Olupos have upheld’ he said.
