An inside source has said that Global Fleet boss, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim, is not indebted to Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), as listed by the corporation on Tuesday.

A list released by AMCON two days ago had listed Ibrahim’s company, Nicon Investments Limited, among 20 top Nigerians allegedly owing it N5tr (five trillion naira).

Brandishing a statement of account reportedly issued to Nicon Investments Limited by Union Bank in April 2010, the source who pleaded not to be named because he was not officially qualified to speak on the matter, claimed that Ibrahim could not be owing AMCON because as at the time the statement of account was issued, Nicon had a balance of £130m (one hundred and thirty million pounds sterling).

”Here is our deposit hanging in the bank where AMCON claimed it brought debt. Assuming without conceding that AMCON’s claim is true, we still have an excess of 15 billion naira to collect, and if we add the interest, we have 69 billion naira to our credit,” claimed the company source, who stressed that AMCON and Nicon are still in court on the matter.
