Fuji music star, Saheed Osupa, has denied media reports quoting him as having rebuked a senior colleague, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshall a. k. a. K-1 de Ultimate, for saying that the late Fuji czar, Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, did not originate Fuji Music.

K-1, at a public forum in Lagos few weeks ago, reiterated his long time comment that Fuji music preceded Ayinde Barrister, his godfather and mentor. The Talazo crooner’s latest comment expectedly drew tirades from majority of Fuji Music fans, including K-1’s, who felt it shouldn’t have been him whittling Barrister’s influence in the eyes of the public, having cut his musical tooth under Barrister.

Osupa joined the call against K-1 as reported in a national daily few days ago, warning that K-1 should thread cautiously with his comments about Ayinde Barrister who was known as Mr. Fuji for bringing modernization to the hitherto localized genre. He equally acknowledged K-1’s efforts at redefining Fuji.

However, on his personal Facebook page two days ago, ‘KSO official’, Osupa made a u-turn, berating the newspaper’s reporter for publishing ‘falsehood’.

He writes (unedited);

“It has come to my notice, the twisted media reportage of my interaction with Femi Atoyebi, a journalist, on the lingering debate on who is the Originator of Fuji Music? A statement credited to me, allegedly that I insulted K1, the HEADLINE “K1 insulted his master” was never impressed by me or my media team. Though, I may want to set the record straight, after the outburst on the Originator of Fuji Music, a statement allegedly to have said by K1 that Barrister isn’t the one that created the kind of music, out of my stringent schedule, I took a time to visit K1, we had a prolonged discussion on the subject matter, at that point, I realizes our view on the creator of Fuji Music is conspicuously different and, as stipulated by the 1999 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria (as amended), every Nigerian has independent of their opinion, so I solemnly respected his position with no further argument. It is regrettable that a different HEADLINE was given to that interview, perhaps, for an obvious reason. Osupa is too busy to engage in controversies, so for any media malignity or any sort, to solicit my musical prowess, ladies and gentlemen, Osupa is a complete Fuji Music Artist, with no course to solicit audience. For the record, with so many archival material to my credit, that can be considered as the future of Fuji Music. As for my fans, your unflinching love and loyalty really motivate me to carry on…Love you all. And to the punch newspaper, please don’t say what i didn’t say, my integrity, image and name are very paramount to me. We want total Peace in Fuji music arena, not war. God bless you all.”
