Gov AbdulRazaq Appoints Ibrahim Yahya Oloriegbe As Amir-li-Hajj

Dr Ibrahim Yahya Oloriegbe has been appointed as leader of pilgrims from Kwara State ahead of the 1445 A.H hajj exercise.

 Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq announced the former federal lawmaker’s appointment as Ameerul-Hajj penultimate week.

 ‘Kwara State has at least 3,102 pilgrims for this year’s Hajj — one of the highest in the country’, the statement added while noting that the decision to appoint Oloriegbe as leader of pilgrims from the state was ‘borne out of his experience and networks as a Muslim community leader’. 

The government believes that the senator will deploy his knowledge and understanding of the terrain to ensure an improved coordination and efficiency for the exercise’, the  governor noted.

Oloriegbe, a medical doctor was born on November 12 ,1960. He received  Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery Degree (MB.BS) from  the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1985  and he had distinctions in Human Physiology, Biochemistry, Community Medicine and Laboratory Medicine.

He was the majority leader and Chairman, Committee on Health and Chairman, Committee on Local Government, Kwara State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2003. 

Dr Oloriegbe also represented Kwara Central senatorial district in the Senate between 2019 and 2003 and he served as Chairman, Committee on Health.

He had since reacted to his appointment as Amir-li-hajj calling it another opportunity to serve God and humanity.

 Oloriegbe who acknowledged the responsibility that comes with the new role and the chorus of congratulations also submitted that he is embracing the new role as a sense of duty to serve the Muslim community and the people of Kwara State.
