The 11th Balogun Gambari of Ilorin, Alhaji Abdulkareem Laaro Buhari died in Ilorin penultimate Friday.
He died at the age of 97.
Alhaji Abdulkareem Laaro Buhari who was born on February 27, 1927 became the Balogun Gambari of Ilorin in 1988. He served as Balogun Gambari of Ilorin from 1988 to 2005.
He was a successful transporter who traveled to many countries including France, London, USA, Canada and other European countries to transact business.
One of his sons, Alh Olayinka Buhari extolled his virtues submitting that he lived a life worthy of emulation.
Noting that his late father would be sorely missed, he also called him a disciplinarian, a philanthropist and a successful businessman adding that his death has created a vacuum that would be too difficult to fill.
He also said his late father contributed immensely to the growth and development of the Ilorin Emirate, adding that his significant contribution would continue to linger in the hearts of the people.
Alhaji Abdulkareem Laaro Buhari is survived by wives, children and grandchildren, including the Director of Marketing, Radio Kwara, Hajia Segilola Alaya and a Kwara State APC big wig, Alhaji Sulyman Tunji Buhari.
