“We took up the mantle of leadership of this great Association precisely in April 2016. It was the time Association had entered into the consolidation stage. My predecessor, Mr Tolu Ogunkoya with other members of the Executive Council which I was a member worked had to birth a revised MIPAN constitution and the code of conduct which today we are very proud of.”

Dr Ikpe stressed further, “In actual fact, we launched the constitution and it was based on same that the current Executive was duly elected for initial period of two years and relected in 2018 for another two years. By our constitution therefore, our tenure ends from today after this AGM.”

Ikpe, an astute technocrat also disclosed that, “Within these four years of leadership, we have been able to record some modest achievements by the grace of God inspite of the numerous challenges that we faced both in the country and the industry. We made sure that more concrete structures were established and the Executive Council became more mobile. More members accredited were also made at creating more awareness for MIPAN and the advertising industry felt more impact of the Association”

The former MIPAN chief however berated some of the challenges faced by the Association stating that there is need to put in more efforts such that the set objectives can be achieved.

“We still have some key issues like quackery in our industry, unprofessional and sharp practices that still need to be addressed, ensuring that we bring more agencies into our fold; making more revenue for the Association to be able to purchase landed property and official car for the use of the secretariat, among other things. I am therefore very confident that the future will be bright for the Association.” Dr Ikpe stated.
