Rights Monitoring Group and Centre for Convention on Democratic Integrity (RMG and CCDI), have cautioned the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to stop from interfering in the political  process in Edo State and allow his successor in office, Governor Godwin Obaseki, to concentrate on governance and deliver democracy dividends to the people of Edo State .

In a statement made available to this magazine on Saturday, the groups’ president, Comrade Olufemi Aduwo, described as an act of political rascality, Oshiomhole’s ”unnecessary interference” in the political process in the state, urging President Muhammadu Buhari not to stand by and watch ”while a few greedy and self-centred party chiefs rubbish the good works of the governor”.

”We urge Mr. President  not to stand aloof and watch while the politics of personal interest of a few greedy and self-centred party chieftains  hampers on the laudable achievements of the governor,” Aduwo stated.

The rights crusader who frowned at Oshiomhole’s continued stay as APC chairman, ”despite the humiliation and disgrace he brought to the party in Zamfara State in the last general elections”, believes he ought to have been relieved of his position for his alleged undemocratic style.

”He (Oshiomhole) should  have been sacked. ln fact, I was shocked when an investor at IMF session asked me about the APC national chairman’s undemocratic leadership style, which speaks volume.”

ln another development, Aduwo appeals to state governments to look for funding opportunities  from donors and development partners for achieving the SDGs attainment outside the traditional World Bank loan and grants.

He urged them to borrow a leaf from the former  governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, whose achievements on MDGs, he said, remain unprecedented because he did not  depend on World Bank loan but through donors’ assistance and donations from foreign non-governmental organisations.
