Chairman of Greenlife Pharmaceuticals Limited and seasoned phamacist, Dr Anthony Obiora Chukwuka, has clocked sixty years of age. And for his outstanding contributions to the development of the country and humanity, he has been receiving accolades from far and wide recognizing the achievements of untiring efforts at nation building through his chosen profession.
At the public presentation of his book, ‘My Wilderness Journey’ on Wednesday November 8, 2023 at the The Civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, Dr. Obiora noted that he has learned so much from life and therefore, he is more than ready to use the experience to keep making the world a better place for all. His book, a 376-page account, covers his autobiography, his formative years, his experience as an entrepreneur of over 40 years, and his life at 60.
The celebrant was described by the VIP guests that included friends, townsmen and women and business associates, as an industrialist every aspiring entrepreneur should emulate and, indeed, an exceptional citizen Nigeria should be proud of. The book chronicles Dr. Obiora’s life, one of a struggling boy, an only male child, who successfully built a life from nothing to something. He was a pharmaceutical shop apprentice in Lagos who was determined to own a business empire and succeeded. His inspiring story has continued to motivate many.
Turning 60 is a huge milestone. The November 8 event was a double honour for Dr. Obiora. The event centre converged cross sections of personalities for both his birthday and book launch who all paid glowing tributes to the star industrialist. Many at the August event agreed that 60 sits well on Dr. Obiora, in terms of achievements, which include his magnificent obsession to add value, vitality, and relevance to people, organizations and institutions. His grass-to-grace story is rare and unique, they agreed. “I’m going to use my retirement to focus more on projects to enrich humanity and contribute more to the development of our dear country,” Dr. Obiora stated while giving his appreciation note.
Speaking on the idea behind writing the book, Dr. Obiora said he was inspired to write to teach the young ones that they must start life with a vision on how to succeed. “Vision is being futuristic. Once you have a vision, you will not deviate. That is why people should know that someone like me with no fantastic background, could still become very successful because of the vision I had,” he said.
Dr. Obiora Chukwuka’s Green Life Pharmaceuticals Limited is a popular pharmaceutical consortium and giant employer of labour with national and global outreach. He hails from Nnokwa, Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State, Nigeria where he acquired the best functional education, enlightenment and culture.
Speaking of the role of mentor-mentee relationship in the journey of his life, Dr. Obiora averred that the problem with Nigerian businesses is that the younger ones do not have people who they could take lessons from to drive entrepreneurship, which, he said, was one of the reasons for organizing such events to motivate younger ones to start life with a vision.
The book’s reviewer, Professor Ngozi Osarenren of the Department of Educational Foundations, University of Lagos, Lagos State, acknowledged the personality of Dr. Obiora as a man who exudes contentment and gratefulness for God’s faithfulness in his life.
