Chairperson and Convener of Asiwaju Renewed Hope (ARH’23) Kemi Olokode-Ayelabola has hailed the judgement of the Supreme Court declaring Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 2023 election, as the duly elected President of Nigeria.

On Thursday, October 26, 2023 the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal filed by the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) against the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25 election.

In a unanimous ruling, the court described both petitions as ‘incompetent and lacking in merit’.

Reacting to the judgement officially, Kemi said the decision of the apex court is a victory for the people of Nigeria, and that the country will now be built with new energy and zest.

“I once again congratulate the President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the validation of his electoral victory by the Apex Court of the land which justified that the mandate that was subjected to legal fireworks is truly his, by every standard.

“I must also add that the road to justice may be long and tortuous, but it is the best path for anyone aggrieved and who chose the path of legal and constitutional redress,” she said.

“To God be the glory, under the new administration of President Tinubu, a new journey to build a new Nigeria with new energy and zest have started in full force. In this outcome, it is the people of Nigeria who have emerged victorious.

“I also use this opportunity to appeal to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former vice president and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as well as Peter Obi the presidential candidate of the Labour Party and his members to respect the decision of the Apex Court in the overall interest of Nigeria. I equally advise the opposition across board not to be discouraged by the loss but to put Nigeria first above anything else.

“This is also the time to make clarion call to all stakeholders to rise and partner with Mr. President to anchor the policies and programmes that he espouses for the country to achieve good governance in tandem with his renewed hope agenda. Election has come and gone, therefore Nigeria must be seen to enjoy the dividends of democracy devoid of distractions and vituperative criticisms which will do the country no good.” The statement concluded.
