Seventeen distinguished Nigerians, on Sunday 19th of May, 2024, received plaques of honour for their creditable contributions to the development of their fields, and the country at large.
At the latest edition of the Excellence Recognition Awards, the 20th, professionals in different departments of private and public arenas were honoured. Fields like religion, manufacturing, education, government and finance, and more, were picked for the honours at the well-attended ceremony held at the Etal Hotels & Hall on Kudirat Abiola Way, Ikeja, Lagos State.
Billed for performance at the grand event were fast-rising Nigerian music acts as Ice k of the Artquake fame, Da Blaze, Istijabah, Famous Igboro, Bash, DJ Virgin, HY2, Jay Sax, Joel Amadi, Klever J, Rapsouldy, Muraino Aboki, while Gbenga Adeyinka 1st and Koffi were listed to compere.
Organizations that received awards are Checkers Custard Brand, Class Hospitality Limited, Foremost Development Services, Justrite Superstores, Sifax Group, Still Earth Capital Finance Limited, Amber Energy Drinks and Zenith Bank Plc, with each companies well represented.
Also, individuals from various sectors of the economy were honoured. The list includes Senator Olamilekan Solomon ‘Yayi’ representing Ogun West (Senator of The Year); Dr. Olufemi Bakre, the CEO of Parallex Bank (Banker of The Year); Mr. ‘Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, the chief of staff to Lagos State governor (Government Official of The Year); Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, the chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Lagos State (Local Government Chairman of The Year); Dr. Ololade Abuta, the CEO of Gracias Group (Most Outstanding Woman in Business); Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, the general overseer of the Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries (Humanitarian Icon of The Year); Hon. Ademorin Kuye, representing Somolu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives (Representative of The Year); Mr Tokunbo Philip Wahab, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources in Lagos State (Commissioner of The Year); Dr. Dele Philips, Chairman of Shores Group (Hospitality Personality of The Year).
The event began at 5.30 in the evening with the opening address read by Mr. Mayor Akinpelu the publisher of Global Excellence magazine and chief organizer of the annual Excellence Recognition Awards.
Majority of the guests and awardees were already seated as Deji Balogun, the official announcer, took the stage to reel out categories in sequence, while Mayor Akinpelu ably accompanied by Dr. Bukky Bello, did the presentations.
At intervals, artistes mounted the stage to thrill the audience and drinks and small chops were served to the satisfaction of all present.
The Nigerian police represented by the Lagos State security outfit, RRS, took charge of the security and the Corporate Guards officials were on hand to assure orderliness.
The memories of the 2024 edition of Excellence Recognition Awards will linger for long given its show-stopping and thrilling sensation, the high-profile guest list and lavish display of fashion.
