Nigerian music act, Adebayo Ajibade Phillip, otherwise known as Pheel D’ Word has put this to bear with his new hit single titled ‘Melanin’ produced by K-12 and Marqai Mix.
Melanin is known to be the pigment that gives human skin, hair, and eyes their colour as visible in dark-skinned people who have more melanin in their skin than light-skinned people have.
As these set of individuals, however, subscribe to the mantra “black is beautiful,” and, as such, learn to accept and internalize it, they are also faced with their own dose of stigma.
While speaking on the title of the single, the soft-spoken artiste described it as a song that seeks to motivate and inspire all women with different shades of dark skin in the society.
