{"id":170504,"date":"2024-06-03T18:46:31","date_gmt":"2024-06-03T17:46:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globalexcellenceonline.com\/?p=170504"},"modified":"2024-06-03T18:46:36","modified_gmt":"2024-06-03T17:46:36","slug":"cbn-withdraws-operating-license-of-heritage-bank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalexcellenceonline.com\/cbn-withdraws-operating-license-of-heritage-bank\/","title":{"rendered":"CBN Withdraws Operating License of Heritage Bank"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has revoked the license of Heritage Bank Plc with immediate effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone size-medium wp-image-46473\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thestatusonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/FB_IMG_1713440663239-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46473\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Heritage Bank<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Hakama Sidi Ali, Acting Director, Corporate Communication at the apex bank, announced this in a statement on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Traveling across Quang Binh to stunning cinematic locations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ali said the action became necessary due to the bank\u2019s breach of Section 12 (1) of BOFIA, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said: \u201cThe Board and Management of the bank have not been able to improve the bank\u2019s financial performance, a situation which constitutes a threat to financial stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis follows a period during which the CBN engaged with the bank and prescribed various supervisory steps intended to stem the decline. Regrettably, the bank has continued to suffer and has no reasonable prospects of recovery, thereby making the revocation of the licence the next necessary step.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mrs Hakama said the CBN has taken this action to strengthen public confidence in the banking system and ensure that the soundness of our financial system is not impaired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) had been appointed as the Liquidator of the bank in accordance with Section 12 (2) of BOFIA, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said: \u201cWe wish to assure the public that the Nigerian financial system remains on a solid footing.
