The subtle crisis sparked by an N8.9 million show contract between Hip-Hop kid, Ayo Balogun a.k.a. Wizkid and the authorities of America University of Nigeria owned by the former vice president of Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, has taken a new dimension.

We learnt that the speculation which spread over the non-cooperating manner of Wizkid on the show allegedly emanated from popular blogger, Linda Ikeji.

Wizkid, it was who lambasted Linda on his social network page over the matter, being the only person said to have written about the contract dispute.

The graduating students of the institution had reportedly contracted Wizkid to perform at their graduation party in Adamawa State and the sum was agreed on after extensive discussions. We learnt that the original date for the performance was not last week Saturday, 21st November 2015, it was much earlier. But because the school had to work with Wizkid’s calendar, being a very busy act, it had to be shifted.
After several shifts, the young singer still would not come up with a suitable date, yet he had collected the performance fee.
According to one of the show organisers, one Mr. Tawati, who claimed to be the social director, it was frustrating how Wizkid delayed the event and many guests who would have graced it were disappointed.

However, when this magazine reached out to Wizkid’s manager, Sunday Are, for comment, he acknowledged his artiste got money from the institution, for logistics and flights. However, Are lamented the school’s approach of going to the media when the November 21 performance date had not lapsed. The artiste manager said; “but the date is not here yet. We have not been able to meet up based on our tight schedules. So, there is no point going to town”, he said.
Meanwhile, following the social media brouhaha regarding the issue, Wizkid himself went on his twitter handle to lash at Linda, who he claimed helped the school to publish story against him without hearing his own side.

“I know this is all that’s feeding u and ur family but pls, let people with real talent and purpose live their life…Even when u’re trying to be low key and keep it cool, they still try to spread false rumors. I love my fans in the north…Wizkid tweeted.
