Lere Olayinka, aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has slammed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his persistent quest to become Nigeria’s President.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily, Olayinka mocked Atiku’s PDP exit, calling him obsessed with ruling Nigeria at all costs.
Reacting to Atiku’s resignation from the PDP, which he announced on Wednesday citing the party’s poor trajectory, Olayinka said the former vice president has made the presidency his sole ambition in life.
“The only thing that interests Atiku Abubakar is to become Nigeria’s President,” Olayinka said.
“I’m beginning to wonder whether a doctor prescribed ‘Presidency’ for him, and if he doesn’t become President, something will happen to him.”
Olayinka accused Atiku of destabilizing the PDP, saying his presidential ambition threatens internal democracy and party unity
He argued that Atiku’s withdrawal from the PDP shows he was never committed to the party’s future but only used it as a platform to chase his presidential dreams.
“Each time he fails to clinch the ticket or loses an election, he jumps ship. Is that how serious politicians behave?” Olayinka queried.
The outspoken aide also hinted that Atiku’s departure might bring peace to the party, saying, “Maybe now, PDP can finally reposition without Atiku constantly hijacking its structure.”
