That has been the question on the lips of many in the Osun State political circle. It will be recalled that Dr. Ademola Adeleke who was the PDP candidate in the July 8 ,2017 senatorial election in Osun West emerged victorious and defeated the APC candidate, Senator Mudathir Hussain. Ademola had sought for the APC ticket before defecting to the PDP to secure the party’s ticket.
Ademola’s victory at the poll not only excited those in the PDP fold but it was indeed a good news that renewed their hopes and assured them of a secured future. It was therefore shocking to members of the state PDP when an interview the Senator purportedly granted surfaced and spread on the social media. In the said interview, the senator stated that the victory he got was not a product of the PDP’s effort but that it was an opportunity the people of the zone used in acknowledging the good legacies his brother, late Senator Isiaka Adeleke left behind.
And that it was the intra-party crisis in the APC that led to the victory of the PDP at the polls. While the bloggers jumped at it and the story went viral, the Senator later issued a press statement debunking the interview in its entirety and submitted he never granted an interview to any journalist. He described it as unfounded and concocted stories.
The question is who the author of the fake interview was and what was the intention of the author?
