Varsity Student  Raped, Murdered At Her Residence in ilorin

Residents of Oke-Odo , Tanke area of Ilorin, students and staff of the University of Ilorin  did not  certainly  consider it as one characterized by euphony when the  news spread that   a female student at the university  has been brutally murdered after rape.

 The deceased;  Olajide Omowumi Blessing, a 300- level student at the University of Ilorin, was penultimate  Tuesday allegedly murdered after getting raped in her room.

 

The tragic  incident was recorded in the Tanke area of Ilorin, Kwara State.

An indigene of Oke-Opin , Ekiti local government area of Kwara State, Blessing  was  until her death a student  at the Department of   Agricultural Science.

As shown in the picture made available to Global Excellence, her body was discovered in her room with her hands and legs tied.

  Hon Ganiyu Abolarin, who represents Ekiti State constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly has  condemned the murder of his constituent  while  lamenting  the growing insecurity in the State.

 He has demanded  the immediate investigation, apprehension and prosecution of the culprits.

 ‘I am deeply concerned about increasing cases of rape and brutality against the girl- child in Nigeria.

I strongly condemn the gruesome killing of Olajide Omowumi Blessing, a 300- level student  at the  University of Ilorin , an indigene of  Oke-Opin in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

This gruesome murder of Olajide Blessing, who was allegedly  murdered after being raped  in her home at Tanke, Ilorin, is one death too many.

The action of the culprits is horrific, condemnable and should not be condoned by any society.

The perpetrator(s) of this dastardly and barbaric act must be brought to justice, we must all seek justice for late Olajide Blessing’ he said.

When contacted, Director,  Corporate Affairs,  University of Ilorin, Alhaji Kunle Akogun said  he was not  yet  aware of the incident while the state  Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ajayi Okasanmi disclosed that police officers at the F Division, Tanke have taken necessary steps after  getting informed about the incident.

 “A complaint was lodged at the F’ Division   that the corpse of a student was discovered and our men were mobilized to the scene, they evacuated the corpse and took it to the Hospital for autopsy.

We met her naked, bruises were noticed in her private part, her mouth was covered among others’ he said.

The state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Bagega has according to him ordered that relevant departments in  the state police command should investigate the incident   and apprehend the culprits.
