…Now In Police Custody

The fact has now emerged of how the suspended senator representing Delta Central senator district, Ovie Omo-Agege led thugs to the senate chambers this morning where the symbol of authority in the upper legislative chamber, The Mace, was hijacked and taken away.

An inside source told Global Excellence magazine that the senator who was suspended for 90 days during plenary on Thursday, 12th of April, 2018 over his remarks that the amendment of the 2010 Electoral Act, which changes the sequence of elections set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari, stormed the Senate with five thugs who dressed like personal body guards, caused confusion and went away with the Mace, the symbol of authority.

The senator and his thugs, we gathered, entered the chamber while plenary was on going and Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu was presiding.

According to a source, while trying to lead Omo-Agege into the chamber, Sergeant- at- Arms and his colleagues tried to block them from entering, but the security men were pushed out and Omo-Agege was led in.

According to the source, Senator Omo- Agege went straight to distract Senator Ekweremadu who was presiding, and it was at this moment that the thugs pounced on the mace and while the Sergeant-at-Arms and his men tried to prevent them from taking the Mace, the source said they were beaten mercilessly and later rushed out of the chamber and zoomed off in a waiting black Prado jeep.

Meanwhile, after forty minutes of the commotion, the Senate resumed plenary, having got a spare mace. The source told Global Excellence magazine that, while the thugs fled the scene with the Mace, Senator Omo-Agege who led them in stayed back to attend the plenary.

Some minutes after, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Sadiq Abubakar Bello, approached the senator and placed him under arrest. While the police team was leading Omo-Agege out of the chamber, the source said, he requested to be allowed to use his personal SUV but the police denied him and whisked him away from the venue in police van.
