Adeoba who is popularly known as ‘Mr. Packaging’, said he has regularly been receiving threats on the phone by unknown elements who are accusing him of using his awards platform to promote ethnic hatred after Igboho honoured the organizers’ invitation to speak at the Ibadan event.

“Some people have been calling me repeatedly claiming that I had caused ethnic tension in Nigeria because I invited Chief Sunday Igboho, to be one of the speakers at the awards event and seminar tagged ‘The Effect of COVID-19 Pandemic on our Culture & Heritage and How To Bounce Back in The Yoruba Race,” Adeoba declared.

The star broadcaster clarified that Igboho was invited without any hidden agenda, stressing that the annual event is purely meant to celebrate and honour, Yoruba professionals, royalties, veterans, celebrities, actors, entertainers, individuals, organizations and leading achievers in which categories Igboho prominently features.Adeoba noted that the event has held for eight years without any record of violence or disruption, wondering at the source of the tale that the Yoruba and herdsmen clashed at the venue of the event.

“Before Chief Igboho attended the event, there had been crisis between the Fulanis and the Yoruba farmers and land owners in Ibadan. So, I was shocked when news went viral that the crisis started at the venue of Ogo Yoruba Awards,” Adeoba stressed, adding that the organizers did not violate any law by inviting Igboho, a leading Yoruba combatant and human rights activist, to speak on matters affecting the Yoruba nation.
