A beautiful, young female act, is poised to take on the Nigerian music scene like a giant hoping to make a definite statement with her first single entitled ‘Uchenna’. Praise Chinyere Okoh Obasi, says the song, ‘was inspired by true love.’

Simply called Orie Basi on stage, the young talent who hails from Abia State, Nigeria, said during a media interaction that, ‘Uchenna’ which in Igbo dialect means ‘my father’s wish’, was borne out of her childhood experience because ‘as a girl, my dad always wished for a good man for me.’ But she was quick to add that the song was not about one man alone but a message of tribute to all African good men who love and respect their women.

Having passion for at an early age, Orie Basi joined her high school music group from where she became a member of the Assemblies of God Church choir in Lome, Togo,

Orie has her unique aspect, and this is her ability to sing in four major languages, Igbo, Togolese, French and English. “I always incorporate African culture into my music,” she noted.

‘Uchenna’ is not her best though, despite that it became an instant hit, she told this magazine that she had many other recorded and unrecorded songs that would blow minds when released.

“I write songs as I’m inspired,” stated Orie who also models as a hobby. The video of ‘Uchenna’ has also been released, we learnt.
