Political party thugs allegedly belonging to All Progressives Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) earlier on Sunday unleashed violence in Ilorin, Kwara State capital city.

Eye witnesses told Global Excellence magazine that the two factions clashed with dangerous weapons at Agbaji, the Senate president, Bukola Saraki’s birth place where about 20 posh cars were destroyed while two persons reportedly  sustained serious injuries from gun shots.

Saraki is a chieftain of the ruling PDP in the state. His candidate for the governorship, Razak Atunwa, is challenging the opposition APC candidate, Abdulrazak Abdulrahman.

The fight, according to sources, begun at Ode Alfa Nda before spreading towards Oja Oba and Agbaji.

The thugs were said to have moved from one house to another dragging out  supporters of their party’s opponent and harassing them with machetes and knives.

It could not be confirmed which of the two factions sparked the violence.

Families affected most by the violence in Agbaji include the Ile Ottan, Sholagberu, Wopa, Olayeri, and Onilemarun.
