Two Billion People Watching AFCON Globally, Says CAF

In Abidjan on Friday, the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, announced that approximately two billion people worldwide are tuning in to watch the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.

Patrice Motsepe highlighted this accomplishment as something that Africans should take pride in during a news conference held ahead of the AFCON final.

In his words;

“We have had close to two billion people watching AFCON globally. We should be proud as Africans and the next one will be even better.”

“The success of Africa depends upon Africa working together, trading together, and in football, countries competing and playing together.”
