‘The proposed installation of Abdul Baki Yaqub by Your Highness as the Waziri of Iwo land is no doubt the result of your avowed commitment to the development of lslam, the lwo community and Osun State in general. However, it is our considered hope that Your Highness would as a matter of urgency clear the air about the rumour making the round that the organizers of the event are attempting to overshoot the desired territory by extending it to the entire Yorubaland. That would definitely not be appropriate. Agreed that the Oluwo of Iwo is qualified to install the beneficiary as the Waziri of the Southwest but due process must be followed before such a revered position is conferred on any recipient. If such would be, it has to go through due process knowing fully well that you are a man of honour, protocol and due process’, the Sheikh stated.
The organization further urged the Oluwo to persuade the organizers of the event to effect changes and have the proposed ‘Waziri of the Southwest’ turned to ‘Waziri of Iwo land’ . ‘To this end, we urge Your Highness to immediately call on the organizers to limit it to Waziri of Iwo land, a title that we believe Your Highness has concluded arrangement to bestow on the recipient’, he stated. Global Excellence learned that the man who the Oluwo plans to honour with the title of Waziri is the son of the late popular Islamic scholar, Shikh Baki Iwo.
