The people of Kwara state were lucky to escape being sent to the mourning mood a few days ago precisely on Saturday as nine people escaped death in an accident involving two commercial vehicles.
Global Excellence was told that the accident occurred at the Oyun area of the Old Jebba Road, Ilorin.
Eyewitness accounts however differ from that of the FRSC while it was said that a man lost his life in the accident, the state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Sunday Maku punctured the story and insisted that no one died.
The accident according to him, involved a Mazda 323 with the registration number FUF 845 XA and another Mazda 323 with the registration number KEY 609 XA which was caused by wrongful overtaking. The occupants eight in number comprising of four males and four females however according to Maku sustained injuries.
‘The accident occurred at the Oyun end of the old Ilorin-Jebba Road precisely at three kilometres from base. Two commercial vehicles; Mazda 323 with the registration number KEY 609 XA and Mazda 323 with the registration number FUF 845 XA were involved. There were nine people in the two vehicles, five males and four females and they all sustained injuries but nobody died.
The crash was due to wrongful overtaking and the victims were taken to a private hospital, Olutayo Hospital for medical attention’ he insisted
