As part of its efforts to enhance youth development, a non-governmental, not-for profit organisation, the Toyin Amuzu Foundation says it is set to hold a football tournament for youths in Abeokuta South area of Ogun state.

Chairman and Founder of the Foundation, Chief Toyin Amuzu who disclosed this to newsmen in Abeokuta, said this first edition of the competition tagged,”Toyin Amuzu 2021 Football tournament” would bring out the best in the youth and support their development.

He assured that various winners would win trophies and cash prizes.

Chief Amuzu explained that ‘the idea was to positively engage the youth to move away from social vices and use their time for sporting activities, since an idle hand, they say is the devil’s workshop’.

According to him, “since the youth age category is full of energy, we must encourage them to be positive. This tournament will discover new talents and promote them to limelight especially those with special interests in the game of football”.

Chief Amuzu said the football tournament will kick-off by October as forms will be given out freely to various football teams within Abeokuta South Local Government area.

He noted that the Toyin Amuzu football championship will coincide with Nigeria’s Independence celebrations, stressing that “it was coming at a time when the youths need hope for a better future”.

Chief Amuzu observed that sports aside from bringing people together promotes peace and unity, saying that is why we are promoting hope in the minds of our youth.

He advised youths of the Nation never to give up on Nigeria, but continue to strive to improve themselves, noting that ‘Nigeria will get better when they work to better themselves and stay positive’.
