Tafida Of Ilorin Dies At  85

A popular politician in Kwara State,   Dr Amuda Aluko gave up the ghost on Friday.

He died at  the ripe old age of 85.

He  was a guber aspirant in 1983 and 1992.

The late Dr Amuda Aluko  attended the popular Barewa College where he was classmate of former presidential aspirant,  Alhaji Lema Jubril.

He was  the first Ilorin  indigene to become a medical doctor  and the first to establish a private hospital  in the state capital  which he named as ‘Geri Alimi Hospital’. The hospital    was initially at Isale –Oja before  having it relocated  to the  Geri Alimi area of the city.

He was for a good number of years a popular figure in the opposition camp and  the coordinator of a group,  the  ‘Liberation Forum’.

As expected, Aluko  was also prominent  among the ‘Otooge’ leaders    when it became a growing force in Kwara politics last year.

Aluko who got a National honour; Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic, OFR, in November 2011 is survived by wives and children including a medical doctor, Dr Akeem Aluko.

Abuja-based successful legal practitioner ,  Tope Aluko  and Canada-based   Usman Aluko are also among his children.

Dr. Aluko was honoured with the title of Tafida  of Ilorin in November 1986 by the  9th Emir of Ilorin , Alhaji  Zulukarnaini  Gambari.
