Prof. Amupitan, INEC chairman

Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, according to the biographical profile made public by Mr. Bayo Onanuga on the 9th of October, 2025, you were born on the 25th of April, 1967.

The same profile indicates that you attended the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, from 1982 to 1984. By simple calculation, that means you were admitted into the Polytechnic at the age of fifteen (15). This raises a matter of both factual accuracy and legal scrutiny, which the People’s Parliament cannot overlook.

Professor, since you are a learned silk and an authority in the Law of Evidence, you are undoubtedly aware that what is asserted must be proven.

Therefore, we invite you, before the court of public conscience, to provide verifiable documentary evidence of the primary and secondary schools you attended, the years you completed them, and your eligibility for admission into the Polytechnic at such a tender age.

The People’s Parliament demands nothing less than concrete and admissible proof, certificates, testimonials, and official records, consistent with the Evidence Act of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This is not a matter for sentiment or public relations; it is a question of truth, transparency and integrity. The public hopes that Mr. Onanuga’s publication was not a misrepresentation of fact, and that you, Professor, will address this issue with the candour expected of one aspiring to chair an institution as sacred as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

-Olufemi Aduwo, president, The People’s Parliament
