The Senate has confirmed Mr Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Mr Muiz Banire as the chairman of the governing board of the Assets Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON).
The confirmation, yesterday, followed the adoption of two separate reports of the Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions headed by Sen Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim (PDP, Kwara).
The Senate said the two confirmations were in line with Section 8 (1) (2) of the CBN Act and Section 10 (1) of the AMCON Act, 2010.President Muhammadu Buhari had in July nominated both Shonubi and Banire for confirmation.
Our correspondent reports that Banire’s confirmation came despite opposition from senators representing Lagos State at the Senate.
