President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has been reported as saying he is actively considering running for the presidency in the 2019 elections, and that he has been consulting and actively considering it.

Saraki, who recently defected to the Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP)  has visited former president Olusegun Obasanjo and former Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (retd).

According to Bloomberg, a privately held financial, software, data, and media company headquartered in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, Saraki spoke with it during an interview at his residence in Abuja.

“I am consulting and actively considering it. I believe I can make the change.

“If a government can go and lock up an arm of government — and it’s never happened in our history — we should all be very concerned. We should not be surprised that they would use security agencies for elections”, Bloomberg, quoted Saraki as saying.

According to the online news portal, Saraki opined that investors and citizens have lost confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari, the nation’s third ranking official after Buhari and his deputy.

Buhari’s election victory in 2015, which marked the first time an opposition party won power at the ballot box and put an end to 16 years of PDP rule, came after he pledged to fix the economy, improve security and fight corruption.
