Sapio Club Celebrates Nigeria @60 *Dino Melaye, Seyi Tinubu, others grace event

The Sapio Club recently celebrated Nigeria at 60th Independence Anniversary.

 

The club did not only celebrate Nigeria but also gave out awards to some deserving Nigerians who have impacted in lives of many Nigerians.

 

Sapio Club is known for its community of intelligence, proposing and implementing solutions for Africans’ socio- economic and political development. It has done a lot for the growth of Africa nay Nigeria and it was not a surprise when the creme da creme of Nigeria including politicians, socialites, business gurus and entertainers stormed Oriental Hotel, Lagos, on Sunday 4th October, 2020, for the august event.

 

The event was declared open by Bashorun JK Randle ex KPMG and ICAN president for Africa with the address by Prof. Wole Soyinka, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, highlighting the need to be strong and focused, after the glorious national anthem was led by the Harpist Walter Spearheart.

 

Leading the pack was Sen. Dino Melaye. Also in attendance was Oloye Morounranti Asabi, the Asoju Asa Ile Oodua-Oonirisa, who is cultural ambassador to His Imperial Majesty the Ooni of Ife; UN delegate; Seyi Tinubu, a honourable member. A former captain of the Super Eagles, Joseph Yobo was also present and he signed a customized Nigerian, John Membu jersey donated to the club for charity which was donated by Hon Farouq Sule Garo.

 

Chinwe Egwin, Chef Prez, Tolarin Thomas, Ezinwe Akudo, a former Miss Nigeria, Ebele Udoh, Ugo Udezue, and many more dignitaries were all present for the event.

 

The list of honourable attendees also include Jim Tewe, Omobaba, Samuel Otigba, Tolani Thomas Adebola Williams, Michael Njoku, Hon. Shina Peller, Naomi Nwokolo, Bukunyi Olateru-Olagbegi, Amb. Dr. Sowemimo Abiodun, Alex Ekubo, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin and Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao and his beautiful wife, Rausa Hadiza.

They were all on hand to add glamour to the event with his beautiful wife, Rausa Hadiza.

 

Speaking at the event as the father of the day, Sen. Melaye emphasized on the reason why Nigerians must not lose hope in the country saying it is a challenge to individuals to help move the country forward. The senator poured encomiums on the Sapio Club led by Ambassador Sonnia Agu.

“I am highly impressed by this club, members are a role model for their generations. Young as they are they don’t think of what they want to gain from Nigeria rather they are giving out to society and I believe this club will go a very long way. To me, you’re just starting and the sky will not even be your limit,” said Melaye.

 

Chief (Mrs) Oluwakemi Nelson alongside the special guest, Mrs Ashabi were the mothers of the day. Chief Nelson advised members of the Sapio Club saying to not relent in their efforts to take the club to the apex.

 

To wind up the programme, awards were given to selected personalities like
Adebola Williams, Alex Ekubor, and Oyo State house of speaker, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin.

 

His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Babatubde Ogunwusi sent his warm regards through his representative advising Sapio Club to keep up the good work.

 

In her closing speech, the CEO of Sapio Club, Ambassador Sonnia Agu expressed appreciation to God and thanked those who honoured the invitation to grace the event.
