It is no longer a news that the former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has dumped the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) to join All Progressives Congress, (APC) after quitting partisan politics some years back.

But to many, including his loyalists were yet to know the reason behind the political move of their political godfather.

Close source to the former Governor revealed that the main reason behind the defection of the Sagamu born politician was his political ambition and his closeness to the incumbent Governor of the State, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

According to the source, Otunba Gbenga Daniel is eyeing the Ogun East Senatorial seat which currently is being occupied by Senator Bode Mustapha.

Rumour also has it that the friendship that existed between the duo might also help the ambition of the former governor.

Otunba Gbenga Daniel, the former Director-General, Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organisation was received into the party on Tuesday, February 16th at his Asoludero residence, Sagamu, by the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun.

Other governors in attendance are Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, Atiku Bagudu, Kebbi State, Abdullahi Ganduje, Kano State and Abubakar Sanni-Bello of Niger State.

Whether the undisclosed dream is achievable, only time will tell.
