The much-anticipated movie of the year, ‘Sex For Marks’ has concluded post-production and is now set for its journey to the cinemas and festival circuit. You now produce your own movies. How much acting fee is your worth at this stage?
I am worth half a million naira already and even more.
How many movies have you successfully produced and who bankrolls you financially to produce movies since it is believed to be a capital-intensive project?
I have produced four movies. My executive producer, Jude Richard financially supports my efforts.
You titled your new movie ‘Sex For Marks’; what inspired the title?
The rate at which sexual harassment is going on in institutions and most times, nothing is being done about it is what inspired the movie, ‘Sex For Marks’.
Have you ever had a reason to reject acting in a film you were invited to feature in?
Yes, I have actually rejected a couple of film productions. The reasons were not because of the fees but because I wasn’t comfortable with the scripts.
How much was the budget for ‘Sex For Marks’ and what are your expectations in recouping your investments?
‘Sex for Marks’ was a high budget movie production. It is worth over N60 million, publicity not included. By the grace of God, we are expecting the best in terms of recouping.
Tell us about your fitness and diet routines.
I exercise thrice a week and I drink more water and fruits.
What role did you play in ‘Sex For Marks’ movie and why did you give yourself that role?
I played the role of Sam Dede’s housemaid. I decided to do something different from the normal even as a producer.
When in your acting career have you felt the most at ease?
I would say that was when I was on the set of ‘Sex for Marks’. Playing the role of a housemaid to a Nollywood star ‘Sam Dede’ was one of the best experiences. I felt so relaxed and was always on point with him.
How do you evaluate yourself as an actress and producer?
As an actor, I am a patient person and I have an enduring spirit. I don’t lose focus. I keep calling time. I respect the crew and cast. I can take any good role and I can easily digest a script. I pray a lot. As a producer, I manage people well, I believe in team work, my welfare is on point, I maintain a peaceful environment, I listen to my subordinates, I carry everyone along and I also pray a lot.
If you could change anything about yourself, what would that be?
I should not have left the industry for 10 years like I did. I entered the industry in 2000 when I was discovered by the late J.T. Tom West. But in 2007, I left the industry and came back in 2017.
Do film directors still approach you for scripts now that you’re more focused on producing your own movies?
Yes, definitely, they still do.
What was an interesting experience you have ever had with a director, if any?
I will say, my best experience was working with the legendary director, Teco Benson. He taught me so many of what I know today.
What character is it that best suits you to play in any movie?
I love playing a seductive role.
Finally, how do you envision success?
Success comes from God. But you need to work for it.
