Oritse Femi Majemite Ekele a.k.a Oritsefemi was born at Ajegunle, Lagos State, though he hails from the Itsekiri tribe of North Warri, Delta State. Oritse Femi applied to study law at Delta State University in Abraka, but dropped out to concentrate on his music career. Femi’s first song ever recorded was titled “Boys dey Binu” (meaning Boys Are Not Happy). He later attended a music school at Ajegunle and was a lead vocalist of the Ajegunle based Cherubim and Seraphim Church’s choir. He also played a bass guitar there.

Soon, he started a group with a friend, Chibudo and they released two albums that both had eight tracks. The title of the first album was also a hit track in the compilation titled ‘Boys Dey Binu’. The second album was titled ‘Money Na Time’. In 2006, he started a solo career and later released his third album, ‘ Elewon’ (meaning, Chase Them). His first solo single was ‘Flop Politician’ that was inspired by the level of corruption in Nigeria polity.  

 

His third album is titled ‘Double Wahala’. Although, in 2014, he released another album titled ‘Sexy Ladies’ featuring Davido, it was ‘Double Wahala’, in which remixed version he later featured, that finally won him the much desired fame and shot his star to the consciousness of music lovers home and abroad.

 

Some of his hit albums so far include, ‘Boys Dey Binu’, ‘Money Na Time’, ‘Elewon’, ‘Wicked World’, ‘Unfadeables’, ‘Musical Taliban’, ‘Double Wahala’, ‘Corporate Miscreant, and ‘L.I.F.E’.

 

For his consistency in music and pacesetting role in raising the bar for others, Oritse Femi Majemite Ekele a.k.a. Oritsefemi, has been honoured with Excellence Recognition Awards 2018 SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN MUSIC.
