Policemen, Driver Arraigned For Robbery In Ilorin

Two officers of the Kwara State Police Command, Sergeant Okuta Efeiri, Corporal Olarewaju Olayinka and one driver, Enoch Agbo were on Tuesday arraigned before Ilorin High Court for alleged armed robbery.

The trio were nabbed in Ilorin last December by members of the Nigerian Police Force.

The two police officers were allegedly working with the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) in Kwara State before their arrest, while the latter is the driver of one of the victims that was robbed by the duo.

The trio were brought before Justice A. L Ishiaq on three count-charge of; Criminal Conspiracy, contrary to section (6b) of robbery and firearms (Special Provision Act), and also charged for armed robbery twice, offence contrary to section 1(2) of the above law.

Meanwhile, the Senior State counsel, Barr. Isaa Zakari who represented the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Kamaldeen Ajibade, briefed the court on the accused persons’ offences.

He intimated the court that the accused were remanded in prison after their arrest and availed the court reasons they should be tried.

The judge admitted the application and ordered that the case should proceed for hearing on 27th April, 2017 and ordered the appearance of the accused on the adjourned date.
