Policeman Runs Amok In Ilorin, Shoots Unarmed Civilian To Death

A sad development was recorded at Kange, a village near Share, the headquarters of Ifelodun local government as a police officer suddenly released a bullet and succeeded in killing an unarmed civilian instantly.  

Folorunsho Ademola, a sergeant attached to the Kwara State police shot Sule Abu  dead. To its credit, the state commissioner of Police promptly ordered the arrest of the overzealous officer.  Kwara State PPRO, Ajayi Okasanmi  confirmed that the officer  has been arrested and currently cooling off in police custody.

‘Contrary to the directive by the Inspector General of Police  in respect of professionalism by the policemen and women across the length and breadth of the country at all times and by extension, the consequences of disobedience to the extant laws on the use of fire arms by police officers, on the  22nd of March, at about 0830hrs, Force No, 264783, Sergeant Folorunsho Ademola attached to the Counter Terrorism Unit of the Kwara State police command, using his AK 47 rifle shot and killed a man identified as Sule Abu  at Kange village via Share without any justification. 

He  has been arrested and currently under investigation,  if found culpable, he will be dismissed from the Force and charged to court. The press release becomes necessary in order  to remind the men of the state Command  about the responsibility and the mandate to  protect lives and property and not to take the life of any citizen unlawfully. It is also meant to assure members of the public that we are immutably resolved to discharge our mandate in accordance with the laid down rules of the country’, he stated.
