Police Parade Top Car Dealer For Alleged Murder

Ogun State police command has paraded an Abeokuta-based auto dealer, who shot and killed a tanker motor-boy with his pump action gun at a car wash in Leme area of the state capital.

The forty nine year old suspect, identified as Olatunbosun Babatunde and nine other suspects were paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Iliyasu for various offences ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping and murder.

The suspect was said to be the leader of a notorious armed bandit gang specialised in snatching cars, kidnapping as well as impersonating military personnel said to be terrorising Abeokuta and its environments in recent times.

Parading the suspects before newsmen at the command headquarters in Eleweran, CP Iliyasu said Olatunbosun willfully shot and killed the motor-boy, who was simply identified as Rasaq shortly after the national Environmental Sanitation of Saturday April 29, 2017.

Disguised as an Army personnel, the suspect allegedly opened fire at Rasaq for refusing to call his boss to remove the petrol tanker for his Toyota Sienna “tokunbo” and allow it gain access to the main road after it had been washed.

Mr. Iliyasu further stated that police officers in the command, particularly operatives of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (F-SARS) were able to lure the auto dealer, who had since, escaped to the Republic of Togo, back to Nigeria before his arrest.

Items recovered from the suspect included: a pump-action gun with serial number 15-0083, 43 love cartridges, two sets of Army camouflage trousers and a knicker, as well as seven pairs of different auto plate numbers.

The Commissioner of Police assured that Olatunbosun would soon be charged to court once investigation was concluded.

Other criminals also paraded along with Olatunbosun included an undergraduate of the University of Ibadan, Olamilekan Ibrahim who has been parading himself as an army personnel and extort money from unsuspecting motorists along the Ogere Remo axis of the state.

The 29 years old Olamilekan, a 100 level U.I. student of Psychology was paraded with two other suspects: Sunday Akpabio and Sunny Tijani for illegally being in possession of army kits and one I.D. card belonging to the Nigerian Legion.
Olamilekan has however, confessed to have purchased the Army kits from Sunday Akpabio’s boutique shop in Mowe – Ibafo axis of Obafemi -Owode local government area of the state.
