Mrs. Abosede Aloba, the mother of the late singer Mohbad (Ilerioluwa) and actor Yomi Fabiyi have disagreed over the cause of the singer’s death.
At a World Press Conference held on Wednesday at Radisson Blu in Ikeja, Lagos State, to demand justice for Mohbad, Fabiyi accused the late singer’s brother, Adura Aloba, of messaging him on Instagram and claiming to know the true cause of his brother’s death.
Abosede responded by denying the claim, adding that Adura would not have known the cause of Mohbad’s death and should remain silent.
The visibly angry mother pointed her finger at Fabiyi while shouting, “They killed Mohbad, and you want me to lose his brother unjustly. He knows nothing about his brother’s death; do not implicate my son.
“I am not happy that I lost Mohbad because if he were alive, I wouldn’t be sitting here with you. They took my precious gift away and I won’t let them take Adura, too.
“It was Damola who used Adura’s message to (Yomi) Fabiyi. He confided in me, and I even wanted to take him to court; when I challenged him, he apologised, begging me that he never knew that was how the matter would turn out to be.
“At this point, I thought you wanted to launder my son’s image. He has denied this allegation countless times, but you still called this press conference to taint his image. Those who are using my son’s death for their personal gains, I leave them to God. This was how they started with Promise (Mohbad). Nobody knows what I’m going through. Imole would not know what killed his brother and keep this quiet,” she added.
Fabiyi responded by stating that he wasn’t focused on who sent the message but rather its content. He emphasized that he wasn’t convinced it wasn’t Adura who had sent him the message.
“There is no way I would wish Adura or Mohbad any harm. If it wasn’t Adura who sent the message explaining Mohbad’s death, would you want me to keep quiet? You weren’t there when Mohbad died, so you may not know what happened.
“All I am trying to say is that it was Adura’s handle that sent me the message. I don’t have anything against him. When I saw the message, I thought you wanted to help your brother. If you make a mistake and the person collects N3 million from me, would you want me to keep quiet? I can’t,” he said.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Damola had purchased the phone belonging to Adura, Mohbad’s younger brother.
Mohbad died on 11 September 2023 in Lagos at the age of 26 under mysterious circumstances.
