Members of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) in Osun State have not joined the ongoing five-day warning strike declared by the national body of the association.

Resident doctors at  the Osun  State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo  have not  participated in the national strike.

This was sequel to the closed- door meeting Governor Ademola Adeleke  held with the doctors and had a certain grievance  that had been left unattended to for 12 years addressed.

‘At the meeting attended by the leadership of the medical union and management of the teaching hospital, Governor Adeleke approved with immediate effect the payment of hazard allowance to clinical and non- clinical workers at the teaching hospital.

The governor also approved payment of a percentage of residency training allowance to resident doctors at the hospital on an annual basis.

Reacting to the presentation by the President of the medical union, Dr John Ojo, Governor Adeleke further directed that all other operational issues raised by the union should be looked into with immediate effect.

He, however, urged the medical workers to reciprocate the kind gesture of the state government by re-dedicating themselves to service delivery.

Elated resident doctors at the meeting jubilated and appreciated the governor for fulfilling the 12- year dream of the resident doctors’, the governor’s media office said.
