Muyiwa Ige, son of the late Cicero of Esa-Oke, Chief Bola Ige served as a commissioner during the first term of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as the governor of Osun State.  He was the Commissioner for Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development. A shocking news broke out penultimate Wednesday indicating the decision of the Osun State House of Assembly to issue a warrant of arrest on the former commissioner for failing to appear before the Committee on Lands that had invited him for explanations on issues concerning a certain portion of land on Ilobu area of the state.  The warrant of arrest was duly signed by the Majority Leader, Timothy Owoeye obviously as requested by the committee. The house, however, on Friday spoke through the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, Honourable Olatunbosun Oyintiloye and reversed its earlier order. In a release entitled ‘Re: Warrant to Compel the Appearance of Arc. Olumuyiwa Ige  Before the Osun State House of Assembly, Osogbo’, the house not only revoked the arrest warrant but also cleared Muyiwa of being guilty in connection with the issue that made them to extend invitation to him.  ‘Sequel to an earlier statement issued on Wednesday, 13th December, 2017, on the above subject, the State of Osun Assembly under the leadership of the Speaker, Rt. Honourable Najeem Salam wishes to inform the general public that Arc. Olumuyiwa Ige has appeared before the House and that he has made submissions and explanations in respect of the issue in contention to the leadership of the State of Osun House of Assembly and the members. It is also important to clearly state that the former Commissioner for Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Arc. Olumuyiwa Ige, has cleared the issue with the State House of Assembly’ Oyintiloye stated. Meanwhile, Global Excellence reliably learned the volt face by the house was because of the intervention of the governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. The governor was said to have been inundated with calls from top personalities and associates of the late Bola Ige and he reportedly got in touch with the house and persuaded them not to overheat the state polity.
