Onipokia, Prof Fosudo, Kunle Afod, Other AfroDescendant Actors Grace AHBE Awards 6.0 in Texas

The 6th edition of Afro-Heritage Broadcasting and Entertainment Awards, tagged AHBEAward 6.0, which held at the AYVA Centre 9371 Richmond Avenue in Houston, TX 77063 ended on a high note.

AHBE Awards is an annual event that celebrate and promote the African media, culture and entertainment practitioners. In attendance at the 2022 edition were African film, music, comedy legends and icons such as Prof Sola Sofudo, Bayo Bankole popularly known as “Boy Alinco”, Susan Peters, Kunle Afod, Sina Ayo Oyinlola, Dotman “Enu gbe”, Maleke among other great actors of afrodescendants.

 

AHBEAward 6.0 which was anchored by ace African comedian and celebrity anchor, Gbenga Adeyinka d 1st (GCON) had in attendance the Chairman and CEO of AHBE Awards event, HRM Oba (Dr.) Yisa Olusola Olaniyan, the Onipokia of Ipokia kingdom.

The event commenced after a brief speech and welcome address by the Chairman who is a first class king in Ogun State, Nigeria and an accomplished, well respected, celebrated and outstanding promoter of African arts and culture. He however noted referred apologies from recipients that could not be physically present.

 

One of the highlights of the event was the moment Prof. Sola Fosudo was presented with the AHBEA Legendary Award by Chief (Dr.) Mrs Morounkubi Merriman Johnson, as various celebrities and stars stormed the stage in support of the well-respected thespian. Of note, the AHBEAwards 6.0 was full of glitz, glamour and excitement as there were spectacular performances from international music stars, such as Yinka Rhythmz a.k.a Mr Somebody, Frosh Amazing, Diamond Dee, Terrell Flowens, as well as the famous African comedian Maleke.

There was a classical musical performance at the event by Dotman of “Enu gbe” fame who dished out several songs including his hit-tracks live on stage to the amazement of the audience and he closed the event in a grand style.

 

The Chairman/CEO of AHBEAwards event, HRM Oba (Dr.) Yisa Olusola Olaniyan during his appreciation speech thanked all the AHBEAwards committee members for their commitment and sacrifice towards the successful hosting of the event. He also showered encomiums on Chief (Dr.) Mrs Morounkubi Merriman Johnson, the Yeye Oge of Ipokia Kingdom for her support as well as Chief Ahmed Malik, the Jagunmolu of Ipokia Kingdom who attended the event in company of his daughter Miss Aminat Ahmed.

He also had kind words for Alabama USA based Dr. Yvonne Mitchell, Delaware USA based Mr and Mrs Sam of Legacy Tailors for their support towards the success of the 2022 edition of AHBEAwards event. In closing, he expressed that plans are already ongoing to host the 2023 AHBE Awards that promises to be brighter, bigger and better.
